Welcome to the Port St. Johns Municipality’s Official Website. In an effort to put our heritage and people at the center stage of what we do we, have revamped this website as of 01 May 2018 to respond to our immediate citizenry. Key to the changes that we have effected is to ensure that the site is now more comprehensive and provides a holistic view of what our small municipality has to offer. We have also made it mobile-friendly, so do feel free to view it on your smartphone or tablet.
Port St. Johns Local Municipality is an administrative area in the OR Tambo District of Eastern Cape in South Africa. The municipality is largely rural/traditional in character and the main economic activities are tourism and subsistence farming thus we have pitched our presentation of this portal, beyond the legislative disclosures, to be representative of our heritage, our people.
Destination of choice that promotes inclusive economic growth for a sustainable and unified municipality.
A municipality that is financially viable and committed to provide quality services through good governance in a manner that is equitable and responsive to community needs.
In addition to the eight Batho Pele principles introduced by government on 1 October, 1997 to stand for better delivery of goods and services to the people, the municipality wishes, in the next five years to embrace an additional six values of accountability, corruption-free, responsibility and social justice. Statements made below therefore constitute a service charter with residents of Port St John’s Municipality who are the recipients of the goods and services of the municipality.
